Grok Bot: xAI's Teach-a-Task Agent, Explained

Grok Bot, launched in beta by xAI in August 2026, is the power-user entry in the 2026 personal-agent race. It is not the Grok chatbot; it is a separate agent that runs on its own persistent cloud computer and is built to do work, not chat.

How it works

Each Grok Bot runs on an always-on virtual computer in the cloud, complete with a browser, file access and its own logins. It can read and write files, run terminal commands, connect to your accounts through built-in connectors, and use MCP-enabled tools. You create persistent bots with specific jobs and delegate to them like teammates. Because the work happens in the cloud, a task keeps running even when your own device is off.

Teach-a-task

Grok Bot's signature feature is teach-a-task. You screen-record yourself doing a workflow once, and Grok Bot turns that recording into a repeatable skill, with no API integrations or plugins to configure. It is the most concrete answer yet to the problem of getting an agent to do exactly your process, not a generic approximation.

Where to get it

Grok Bot launched bundled into SuperGrok Heavy and into coding products, including Cursor Ultra at $200 per month and Cursor Teams Premium at $120 per seat, with a wider rollout tied to a later Grok model update. The pricing and packaging make clear it is aimed at developers and heavy users first.

How it compares

Against Meta's consumer-focused Muse, OpenAI's work-tool Dots and the phone-first startup Instinct, Grok Bot differentiates on teachability and raw computer control. See The 2026 Personal AI Agent Wars.
