100,000 Prompts: the Open Encyclopedia Hits Six Figures

Today Wikiprompt crossed 100,000 active prompts. Every one is attributed to its original author or source dataset, carries structured metadata (model, type, quality assessment, keywords), is translated into seven languages, and is downloadable as open data. Here is what six figures of prompts actually looks like.

The catalog in numbers

  • 100,068 prompts from 3,000+ contributors, viewed 667,000+ times
  • 74,186 image prompts, 15,816 text prompts, 10,066 video prompts
  • 1,053 distinct AI models represented, from Stable Diffusion 1.4 to this week's releases
  • 449,000 translations: titles, descriptions and bodies in Spanish, Portuguese, French, Chinese, German and Japanese
  • A timeline that now spans August 2022 to today, every prompt dated to its original publication
  • Where it all comes from

Twitter/X remains the largest vein (53,281 prompts from the daily harvest of 600+ curated accounts), followed by open Hugging Face datasets (38,662 - DiffusionDB, the LAION DALL-E 3 archive, open-image-preferences, the Rapidata preference studies, r/WritingPrompts), MeiGen, prompts.chat, Reddit, Civitai and FayMas. Every source is credited per prompt.

    Three eras, one shelf

The catalog now documents the whole history of prompting side by side: the 2022 keyword incantations with their original seeds and settings, the 2023 DALL-E 3 absurdist sentences, and today's cinematic production briefs with camera language and parameter blocks.

    Everything stays open

  • Thanks to every author whose prompts make up the shelf. On to the next hundred thousand.
