INT. HOTEL ROOM - DAY BRIAN (20s, red-and-black plaid sweater vest over light blue polo, side-swept blonde hair, braces) packs a small backpack. He glances out the window. Below, on the canal street, LAINA (20s, wide-eyed, fixed smile) stands perfectly still, staring up at his window. Brian freezes. He slowly backs away from the window. He grabs his backpack and slips out the door. EXT. CANAL STREET - DAY Brian exits the hotel. He checks both directions. Clear. He walks quickly, weaving through tourists. He turns a corner. Laina is already there, leaning against a bike rack, smiling. She waves. Brian pivots, walks the other way. He bumps into a cyclist. The cyclist swerves, crashes into a stack of rental bikes. Brian apologizes, keeps moving. EXT. TULIP FIELD - DAY Brian jogs along a path bordering a bright tulip field. He thinks he's safe. He stops, bends over, catching his breath. ALIEN GUY (40s, wild hair, expansive gestures) steps out from behind a wooden sign. He grabs Brian's shoulders. ALIEN GUY She's not your girlfriend. She's an alien. I saw her ship land right there. He points at a flattened patch of tulips. ALIEN GUY I was photographing the flowers. For my blog. And then - whoosh. Green light. She stepped out. No fear. No blinking. That's not human, man. Brian tries to step around him. Alien Guy blocks him. ALIEN GUY You have to follow me. The ship is still there. We can prove it. We can expose her. Brian shakes his head. He points at his watch, mimes being late. He jogs off. ALIEN GUY (calling after him) She's going to find you! They always find you! EXT. AMSTERDAM STREET - DAY Brian weaves through a flower market. He knocks over a display of tulips. The vendor shouts. Brian keeps moving. He turns onto a narrow street. A tram track. He tries to cross. A tram bell rings. He jumps back. He tries again. Another tram. He's trapped between the tracks. Laina appears at the far end of the street. She's not running. She's walking at a normal pace. But she's closing the distance. Brian spots an opening. He sprints across the tracks, barely missing a tram. He ducks into an alley. EXT. CANAL BRIDGE - DAY Brian emerges onto a dark metal bridge over a canal. He's breathing hard. He looks back. No Laina. He turns forward. On the railing, a BLONDE WOMAN (long blonde hair, black off-shoulder top, shorts) is posing for a photo. Below, a white boat passes under the bridge. Several CASUAL MEN in sunglasses look up. Brian startles her. She wobbles. Brian reaches to steady her. He misses. He trips over the railing. SPLASH. Brian flails in the canal. The men on the boat burst out laughing. One of them points. Another films with his phone. The Blonde Woman climbs down from the railing, unharmed. The men help her onto the boat. She laughs. Brian splashes, grabs a floating tulip, and sinks again. EXT. BUSY AMSTERDAM STREET - DAY Brian, soaked, stands on a crowded street. Tulip petals stuck to his sweater. He looks around. No Laina. He exhales. LAINA (O.S.) Found you, my love! I'm never letting you go! Brian turns. Laina stands three feet away, arms open, smile fixed. She steps forward. Brian steps back. He hits a lamppost. The camera rises. Above the rooftops, a flying saucer descends slowly over the city. Sunlight glints off its hull. The street noise fades. HARD CUT TO: EXT. TULIP FIELD - DAY ALIEN GUY, arms raised to the sky, cheering. ALIEN GUY I knew it! I knew it! I knew it! THE END.
