Creators are faking AAA game trailers, gameplay footage, key art and character sheets with AI. We mapped the five formats and the prompt patterns that make a clip read like a real studio reveal.

How to Prompt AI Game Trailers, Gameplay and Key Art

One of the fastest-growing corners of our catalog has nothing to do with real games and everything to do with looking like one. Creators are using AI video and image models to fake AAA game trailers, cinematic gameplay footage, key art and character sheets, and the best of them are genuinely hard to tell from a real studio reveal. We pulled the strongest examples from the catalog to map out how it is done.

The five things people actually make

Game-style prompts fall into five clear buckets, and each needs a different recipe.

1. Cinematic reveal trailers

The classic "world premiere" trailer: slow build, hero shot, logo card. These lean on dramatic pacing and a single memorable beat.

  • Premium Cinematic Character Reveal Trailer Prompt nails the reveal structure.
  • Cinematic Samurai Warrior Action Trailer and Zombie Apocalypse Action Trailer show the genre range.
  • The Stone Garden Trailer Prompt proves quieter, atmospheric trailers work too.
  • 2. Fake gameplay footage

The harder trick: making it look like someone is *playing*. The tell is camera behavior, a third-person follow cam or a locked FPS view, plus a hint of UI.

  • AAA Third-Person Archaeological Action-Adventure Gameplay is the template for the Uncharted-style follow cam.
  • AAA Cinematic Dark Fantasy Wuxia Boss Fight and AAA Cinematic Samurai vs Cyst Behemoth Battle capture the boss-encounter beat.
  • Dragon Knight POV Epic Fantasy Flight uses first-person POV for immersion.
  • 3. Key art and covers

Static hero images, the poster you would see on a storefront. This is where image models shine.

  • Skybound: Adventure Game Key Art and Dark-Fantasy Isometric ARPG Cinematic Trailer define the look.
  • Cinematic Sci-Fi Game Cover Portrait shows the single-character cover framing.
  • 4. UI, HUD and menu screens

The detail that sells "this is a game": stat screens, health bars, ability icons.

  • Anime Sports-Game Player Stats Screen Opening is a clever example of prompting the interface itself, not just the scene.
  • 5. Character reference sheets

For anyone building a consistent character across shots, the multi-angle model sheet is essential.

  • AAA-quality 3D Character Reference Sheet from a Photo turns one image into a full turnaround.
  • Patterns that make it read as a game

Across the best prompts, the same tricks show up:

  • Name the camera rig, not just the scene. "Third-person follow cam", "locked FPS view", "over-the-shoulder combat camera" instantly signals gameplay. A free-floating cinematic camera reads as a movie instead.
  • Add a whisper of UI. Even a faint health bar, ability cooldown, or ammo counter flips a clip from "CGI short" to "gameplay." Do not overdo it; one or two elements is enough.
  • Reference an engine or a franchise feel. "Unreal Engine 5 cinematic", "AAA next-gen", "Souls-like", "isometric ARPG" give the model a concrete target.
  • Structure trailers as beats. For reveal trailers, spell out the sequence: ambient build, action spike, title card. Our video-prompt guide covers the cut-list approach in depth.
  • Lock the character first. If your trailer and gameplay need the same hero, generate a reference sheet and feed it back in.
  • Which model for which piece

  • Cinematic trailers and boss fights: Seedance 2.5 dominates here, its motion coherence holds up across a 20-30 second action beat.
  • Atmospheric and character-reveal trailers: Hailuo shows up repeatedly in the trailer bucket.
  • Key art, covers and reference sheets: GPT Image 2 and Nano Banana Pro for the static hero images.
  • Browse the full set of video prompts to see how creators combine these, or test any of them in Create and iterate the camera and UI until it reads like a real reveal.
