Clément Delangue is a French entrepreneur, co-founder and chief executive officer of Hugging Face, a company and open online platform that grew into one of the most widely used hubs for sharing machine learning models, datasets, and tools.
Delangue co-founded Hugging Face in 2016 in New York alongside Julien Chaumond and Thomas Wolf, originally building a chatbot app aimed at teenagers before the company pivoted toward open-source developer tools for natural language processing. The pivot followed the team's release of an open-source implementation of BERT-style transformer models, which found rapid adoption among researchers and engineers who wanted an easier way to use pretrained transformer models without reimplementing them from published papers.
