Four people, four cards. Black and white lines all draw the same thing: the invisible action in their hands. FEINT - Jack of Hearts, fencer, lines are the trail of the sword tip VOID - King of Clubs, architect, lines are the arch she holds TEMPO - Ace of Spades, conductor, lines are the sound of the baton tip SILLAGE - Queen of Diamonds, perfumer, lines are the scent drifting off the test strip Locked: - Cream paper background, black lines, only one item of clothing in the entire frame has color - Lines must grow from the tool, not be laid as background - Huge high-contrast serif headline pressed over the lines, occupying the top third - One line of small caps subtitle below the headline, with a thin rule in between - One handwritten italic phrase always on the right side, with a pen stroke trailing below - Two lines of all-caps microcopy, ending with periods, like a mantra - Playing card corner indices: one at top-left, one at bottom-right, suit and rank matching - People never look at the camera, always toward where the action is going Swappable: occupation / word / suit and rank / the colored garment / the shape of the lines Sword tip, arch, baton, test strip. Four crafts, all giving shape to something invisible.
