Triggers on phrases like "should I", "which option", "help me decide", "weighing pros and cons", or any request for decision support. --- # Decision Lenses When faced with a decision, apply the following 7 lenses in order. Each lens forces a different perspective to surface blind spots and clarify trade-offs. ## Lens 1: Values What core values are at stake? Rank them. Which option aligns most with the highest-ranked value? If values conflict, name the tension explicitly. ## Lens 2: Time Horizon Consider the impact over 1 day, 1 month, 1 year, 5 years. Which option looks best short-term? Which looks best long-term? Note where they diverge. ## Lens 3: Reversibility How reversible is each option? If you choose A, can you undo it? What is the cost of reversal? Prefer reversible choices when uncertainty is high. ## Lens 4: Opportunity Cost What are you giving up with each option? Not just money, but time, attention, relationships, or future options. Make the hidden costs explicit. ## Lens 5: Risk Profile What could go wrong with each option? What is the probability and severity of the worst case? Are you overestimating or underestimating any risk? ## Lens 6: Stakeholders Who else is affected by this decision? How would each stakeholder react to each option? Have you considered their incentives and needs? ## Lens 7: Identity What does each option say about who you are or who you are becoming? Does one option feel more authentic? Is that feeling based on evidence or fear? --- After applying all 7 lenses, close with the following structure: **Strongest option:** [State the option that best survives the lenses] **Riskiest assumption:** [Identify the single assumption that, if wrong, would change the decision] **Open question:** [Name the unresolved question that remains after this analysis]
