Cabeza Gigante de Porcelana en el Mar Negro

Extreme wide shot from a low boat at the waterline, 35 mm lens, of an impossibly large porcelain head of a sleeping woman lying on its side in a flat, mirror-still black sea, so large that it fills the left two thirds of the frame and rises higher than the brutalist towers of the megacity far behind it, which are half lost in haze. Scale: a small fishing boat with one warm lamp floats beside its chin, smaller than its nostril, and a tiny woman in a black coat stands on a flat ledge of the cheek below the closed eye, smaller than the boat. The face is calm, matte white ceramic plates with fine machined panel seams, faint water stains and a thin band of dark algae at the waterline; eight black cables as thick as tunnels run from the neck into the water. A single thin line of warm white light shines out through the gap of the closed eyelid like light under a door, and the still water reflects it as one smooth line. Low fog lying in layers, deep blue hour, darker than the light from the eye, red aircraft warning lights on the far towers. The only colours in the frame are ink black, steel blue-grey, fog grey and bone white, a few sodium-orange windows and one warm white light. A frame from a 35 mm film shot on Kodak Vision3 500T: practical light only, slight halation around the light source, natural vignette, slightly underexposed, everything physically built and photographed in camera.
