Diner Milkshake Squeeze Test

Handheld home video recorded on an early-2000s consumer DV camcorder inside a chrome-and-vinyl diner in the evening. The footage feels like real, imperfect home video. Six friends wedge themselves into a booth built for four: two on each bench, one on a stolen chair at the table's end, one balanced on the booth armrest against the window, condensation and neon glowing behind them. In the center of the table stands one enormous milkshake with six straws in it, and all six lean in and drink at once, foreheads nearly touching, eyes crossing with effort. Beside it a tower of stacked onion rings slowly leans, and collapses exactly as everyone leans back. The camera films from the chair at the table end, passed once mid-shot to a greasy-fingered neighbor, fluorescent light flickering faint bands across the frame. Natural sound only: diner clatter, the gurgle of six straws hitting empty, the onion ring tower's soft crash, laughter, a bell from the kitchen. No music, no spoken dialogue. The result must feel like authentic, raw 4:3 camcorder footage of a diner squeeze test.
