In January 2026, a Zoox in San Francisco struck a car door as a driver was opening it - Zoox initially said the robotaxi identified the door but could not avoid impact, prompting a police investigation.

Earlier, in 2024, two separate rear-endings with motorcycles occurred, leading to an NHTSA investigation and a voluntary software update. The company has consistently cooperated with regulatory probes, and its recalls were aimed at improving (sensor fusion) and prediction.
