The nickname carried over from the original Nano Banana, which first appeared as an anonymous codename on the LMArena leaderboard in August 2025 before being revealed as Gemini 2.5 Flash Image.

## Capabilities

Nano Banana Pro targets production-quality image work rather than fast casual generation:

- **High resolution.** Native generation up to 4K, against the 1-2 megapixel ceiling of most consumer models at the time.
